Con una diretta streaming la Recording Academy ha annunciato le 84 nomination per l’edizione 2021 dei Grammy Awards, che si terrà il 31 gennaio. Durante la serata, presentata da Trevor Noah, verrà premiato il meglio della musica pubblicata tra il primo settembre 2019 e il 31 agosto 2020. A causa della pandemia è ancora da stabilire se lo spettacolo sarà dal vivo o senza pubblico.
Beyoncé fa incetta di nomination con nove candidature, seguita da Taylor Swift, Roddy Ricch e Dua Lipa con sei a testa. Cinque candidature anche per Billie Eilish, che l’anno scorso aveva conquistato i quattro premi più importanti, Brittany Howard, leader degli Alabama Shakes, Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Phoebe Bridgers, Justin Bieber, John Beasley e David Frost. Delusione per The Weeknd e Harry Styles: il primo non ottiene nessuna nomination, mentre il secondo ha dovuto accontentarsi di due categorie secondarie.
